Young girls’ dreams are made of this… We loved creating this dream-come-true bedroom. It is an utterly feminine fairytale of a room, centred on the romantic view over the garden and fields beyond.

When we first saw this room, the beams were dark brown and the entrance door was too low. We created the big arched double doors, to give a sense of importance and balance to the space, and stripped the beams back to a silvery tone. Our client wanted wallpaper, so we fitted a cornice round the room and over the top of the arched door, so that the paper could butt up to it. The curtains were fixed to one of the cross beams and frame the view like a stage, and lace drapes were arranged over the carved and painted bed. The ultimate finishing touch was the addition of the Venetian chandelier!

The words 'feminine' and 'barn' do not often go together, but our client' brief was to give her a romantic and glamorous bedroom in this oak-beamed barn. She also wanted to look straight out over the fields from her bed.

Our

Our visual artist skilfully interpreted our design for the room

The door to the bedroom was opposite the window, so the bed had to be in the middle of the room in order to face the view. This visual representation shows the back of the bed with an attractive console placed in front of it. The window and curtain treatment can be glimpsed beyond.
